I know, this system's name (with the 2 mufflers and the middle pipe) is Ninausz-system. It makes the 2 stroke engine 20% more power, and reliable.

oops..this green is not mine...it build my friend from Brno.There are some modifications different to serial Trabant 1,1.This car have Trabant 601 body (from A column) with swinging shackle in back - for better stability,accu in back and fuel tank in back.This improves better handling.Front is from trabant 1.1 with McPhersons.This frame is constructed for 1.1 VW Polo engine...it is very similar to 1.6 VW/Skoda engine.

that is hell of a sweet job you did there friend! I knew you had to use better engine,i just didn't had idea what kind of engine could be mounted without bigger problems inside a small frame like Trabant! Looks like i know that now :) Great video ,and great car you made ,congratulations !!!!!

Engine,steering and gearbox is from Skoda Felicia 1.6 MultiPointInjection 55kW .Frame is Trabant 1.1 ,its very easy to swap this engines.Because Trabant 1.1 have VW engine...engine in Skoda is VW 1.6 Now we modifying Wartburg 1.3 ..engine also comes from Skoda Felicia..Gearbox too,but we swap carburetor Pierburg from VW.

The Trabant two-stroke-engine was a all-east-german development. In fact, the link between DKW and IFA existed only between Wartburg (or, before the Wartburg 311 appeared, the IFA F9). The only "relative" in the west was the Lloyd LP 400. Open the engine compartment and have a look. A friend told me that both had been constructed by a west-german engineer who moved to the east due to his communist conviction. But I don't know if that was really true.

The 603-Prototypes have been destroyed, just like all tecnical documentation. It was never proved that VW bought these things from Sachsenring or the GDR. The 603 itself wasn't built due to a decision of the Politbüro: As the government needed foreign money, all industrial capacities were forced to export machines to the west that would have been necessary for a new car like the 603.

PS: Volkswagen bought technical documentation and some prototypes of Trabant 603...first hatchback in Europe (before Renault 5) and few months later presents new VW Golf first prototype... before Golf...almost all VW have rear wheel drive and engine in rear... some comunist director in GDR sell these technical documentation to west germany
