Hell in Calif just to buy a handgun you have to: pass a test (this costs about $20 IIRC), then background check (Cost $20-$50) (which you will fail for simple things like an outstanding parking ticket), the a 10 day waiting period, then you are forced to buy a gun lock ($15), then they finger print you, then you pay an extra %11 gun tax (incorporated into the sticker price of the gun) on top of sales tax.

As long as you pass the background check, get the permits, pay the insane taxes, stay out the waiting period, etc (it's a lot more work than you think) then I see nothing wrong with it.
