kindle is only the future for fiction books....academic books will never move to the kindle..they can convert them to kindle but it won't sell. Kindle doesn't foster a study environment, it's made for story books that you can cosy up reading on your bed, or somewhere thats comfortable for you.

So kindle is more for reading heavy books and easy access newspapers with glare. Amazon should have made it more customizable so that you can ad to it the pdf-files you already have directly from a PC. I don't think the scrolling is possible with the "etch-a-sketch" technology, nether good color or touch screen. Is it good in displaying math symbols and formulas?

Hmmm seems like nearly 2000 Kindle users give it either 4 or 5 stars on Amazon's website. Even the people who don't like it don't complain about the display. The Sony reader uses the same display and no-one whinges about that either. I think I'll go with the opinions of those who actually own one - but hey that's just my choice.

Additionally, 'highly evolved' doesn't mean much, as evolution doesn't have a 'direction', and the platypus isn't really more complex than animals even hundreds of millions of years old, though it is very unusual! Even so, you are mistaken about the platypus being the same as it was millions of years ago, that's a common myth. They are fairly different, as one might expect. Check out the platypus article on talkorigins, it is fairly informative. Until they find more fossils though, hard to say.

The proof of the platypus' history are fossils that date back millions of years showing that they are the same today as a millions of years ago. The platypus has many traits that would appear in a 'highly evolved' animal such as the receptors inside its bill. How could a 'highly evolved' animal appear so early? Additionally, you may want to research both sides of the issue. A lot of evidence does now exist showing likely evolutionary paths the platypus may have taken. The following link is fairly balanced. Besides, since God creates structure, order and logic, since his universe obviously relies on both, why would he create something like evolution if it was flawed? He wouldn't. Moot point, the platypus isn't a counter example. As I stated, understanding how every animal evolved may take many thousands of years. Of course, a few decades into it, there will be things we haven't figured out. With the Platypus, there simply isn't much known. In order to qualify as a counter example, there must be plenty of evidence as to the history of an organism, AND have that evidence show evolution would have been impossible. Evolution doesn't imply only physical changes. It has long since been shown that many behaviors are results of the physical structure of the brain as well as chemical changes (which modify neuron firing patterns) in the brain. Evolution refers to any trait which can be passed on to children through DNA. Most ants are completely unable to adapt to a flood - the fact these ants can proves they are different in some way, which shows they probably evolved that difference to take advantage of floods.

It HAS been shown that many 'instincts' are based on the material. For example, a simple change in a single gene of rat DNA can change them from being monogamous to polygamous. I was wondering about the vid with the music too. Didn't make sense to me to put instrumental noise over nature sounds when you're trying to get that 'getting away from it all' vibe. I remember reading a research paper article regarding people that listen to music to relax. Classical actually made people more hyper. The most relaxing instrument turned out to be the sitar (and these were European test subjects, not Indian). So, get out your Ravi Shankar if you want tunes with nature sounds.

The guy calls the piranha he caught a "Mogan piranha" or something like that. There's no such thing. It's a Serrasalmus rhombeus. Although considered a species of piranha, the Serrasalmus genus are not true piranhas. Very nice specimen though! That particular fish would carry a price tag of $600-$800 to aquarium enthusiasts here in the United States.

In regards to "Yellow belly piranhas" being more or less aggressive than "Red belly piranhas..." the "Yellow belly" is actually a P. ternetzi... which is a variant of the P. nattereri, also known as "Red belly piranha." They both show equal levels of aggression. Actually shy by nature, piranhas only become "Aggressive" when in a feeding frenzy such as when locked in small pools during the dry season.
