I don't know how many times I have to say this, but: Everything here was stripped of any recyclable/reusable parts, including copper, aluminum, and various electronic components. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - you want to complain, complain to the people who discard perfectly good appliances in the first place. I'm just the middle man. Flocking is tiny colored fibers used either as a coloring or as a highlight like I use it to give the appearance of tiny top of the skin capilaries and blood vessels. Its not a must, just a nice finishing look. You can get away with either leaving it transparent and painting it with pax paint or get some cheap liquid cosmetic makeup and color the gelatin as its cooking.

Im not familiar with 220. As the numbers drop, so does the strength. So based on that I would add more zinc oxide to keep it from tearing. Ive seen people use regular gelatin you eat out of the store and make small appliances or build it up on their skin. It should work for you.

Another option for you since you donot have an oven would be Platsil Gel 10. Its a self cure silicon. Throw a little silicon deadener in it and it is just like skin. No baking or cooking. Just mix part A to B and let it sit for a few hours like gelatin and demold. Fxwarehouse is running a special on it this month I think, you may want to grab some up and try it out while its on sale.

Thanks, Yea, gelatin is very economical and very versatile. There isnt as long of a wait as with silicone, and if you mess up, you can melt the piece right back down and redo it. It doesnt hurt the gelatin. I would say that it moves and feels texture wise-in between foam latex and silicone.

Check out the Ibanez TS-9 if you haven't already. It's the TS 808 refined a bit - Clapton, Mayer, Santana, SRV, etc. all use it. It's got great tone, especially with the CS 336. Very smooth but with a kick.

The guitar has good sustain when played loud. Since it's a semi-hollow it interacts with the amp more than a solid body. The Blackstone isn't a super high gain pedal - it's still an overdrive pedal so sustain is a result of the guitar, pedal and the amp clipping. I'm not sure if that helps or not.

Thanks. I've only tried it w/a battery so far, so I haven't noticed the difference when using an adapter. I agree it's cool to run it first, but it's just impractical in my set-up unless I don't want to use half my pedals (which I do...). I A/B'd it w/an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, getting the drive and level settings so that the sounds were as close as possible (Ibanez drive at full, Blackstone at 75% orange channel). The Blackstone had a bit more definition. (Driving a Vox AC15, BTW)

That's one of the big "problems" with the Blackstone - if you run in the unbuffered mode it sounds like crap with any other pedal in front of it. If I'm running it with other pedals it goes first or I switch to buffered like you have. I find it sounds so close in the buffered mode that it's ok - but I hate to give up the reactivity to the volume control. The other thing I noticed is that it seems to sound better running from batteries instead of a power supply. Subtle but perceptible.

Thanks for your comments on the 336 -- very cool-looking (and sounding!) guitar. I just picked up a Blackstone overdrive pedal myself and love it. I have had to switch it to buffered, b/c I couldn't find another way to work it into my pedal chain. Now I've got Analogman mini-bi comprossor-->Budda Wah-->Blackstone OD-->Analogman Chorus-->EH Stereo Memory Man. It seems to work well. Have you tried running it w/other pedals? How do you get it work (eg w/a compressor) when it has to go first?

It is the flame top and has a gorgeous finish. I'm not a sunburst guy normally but this one works for me. I think they're great guitars. I'd like to try a 339 as well. The 336 replaces a stolen Howard Roberts Fusion (after a two year search to find something that is as good).

BTW Nice video, great tones man. I found this video when I was considering getting the Yellow Jackets myself. I bought some and like them a great deal. Better for my single coils than my humbuckers as the hums just break up way to early to be useable. I'm going to try some later break up el84s to see if I can remedy this.

The EL84s saturate earlier and don't get as loud. I think they have more gain before they saturate too. Sound wise, they are brighter with very smooth breakup. Brighter in a non-harsh way. They are a fun change compared to the 6V6s.

Kind words, thanks. I've never played a Laney but have had a few Mesa's. I love Mesa's gain/overdrive sounds but could never get the clean to breakup sounds and feel I wanted. I think the solid state rectification was the issue. I'd like to try a Lonestar Special but then fear I'd want to buy it!

The Brown channel sounds pretty much like the Red except it doesn't have the eq features of boost and cut. The pedal is true bypass so all the demo stuff showing just the guitar's sounds is through the pedal on bypass. If you want to hear it more in a band context I have a few other clips up that at least of drum/bass/rhythm guitar backing tracks. Was the last comment _I_ should be working on my skills? ;-) (Not news if that's the case.)
