Second, you can't generalize that all DT fans don't know what arpeggio means. But, even if it were true, it's not a fact you should base your hypothetically valid criticism on. Being a good musician is a matter of technical ability (which can be objectively tested), as much as being a good songwriter is a matter of creativity (which can't be detected in only one song, but can be easily recognized in the whole catalog of an artist or band). First, who claimed DT are the best musicians ever? It doesn't take a trained ear to find musicians who can outperform DT at any time (either in terms of technical or songwriting abilities, but I doubt that in both at the same time). I'm more worried about you, not being able to distinguish between one person and a large group, since you just claimed that every Dream Theater fan who has commented here doesn't know what arpeggio means. You'd be wrong on that. Also, since music is subjective, and a lot of people find their music to be incredible, you actually can't claim that they can't write a decent song.
