For all of your self proclaimed "truths", give some examples how SRV had such great tone, show me some songs where he sounds drastically different, and not just the cop out of using an octavia a la Hendrix or a wah, big deal. There is technique and there is groove, heart and soul. You can be the best technical guitar player if you dont have the last 3, you're just good. Mr Hendrix had everything, he just set the fuckin' electric guitar standards. He was the michael jordan or the rodney mullen of guitar :D. The BEST. Dude, there is nobody better than Jimi Hendrix. There is nobody even in the same league with him. You can't beat a fact. He is #1, by far #1. Nobody can touch him, reach him and especially play him. He is completely untouchable and in a league/planet of his own. Trully the best guitar player of all times. A fact. It's true, yes ... There were better guitarists after Hendrix! But, where would they be without him? I mean, after Hendrix I've seen lots of guitarists play his things just as good or even better, for that matter, but Hendrix was the person who brought the whole idea of "wild" and "solo" together, providing inspiration for all of today's guitarists ... And I still think his style is better and more interesting than most, because: "The original is always best!"

I think the interviewer is strong and much in control, considering the amount of interviewers who completely lost it during their interviews. Of course the tone is very light but this is a question of context and the type of program. Merritt is for once exactly doing what he aims to do when doing all these interviews which is promotion.
