No argument there but, hospitals now are a business and I don't know of any scripture that suggests health care is the responsibility of the church. What are these historically biblical responsibilities belonging to the church that it has abdicated that the government now carries out?? What is the church's realm of influence?? There is a logical and legal separation of church and state. Government doesn't teach or legislate theology nor does the church execute public policy or laws. I just made one, but my keyboard won't work with it. It's a normal ps/2 keyboard. When I open any program that needs to be typed in (CMD) and I hit a key it either does nothing or it goes to a blue windows error screen. Do you know what's wrong? I tried a copy with default plugin settings, and two where I changed the keyboard inf file to be set to US layout(one with the first ";" removed and the second with both of them removed). It still won't work. Any Idea what I can do to make it work?

By the way, found a 4 inch screen and hinges at B and H photo. Anyway, it has about 1 ghz of power, although it probably can be upgraded with a bit of tweaking (It is a DIY kit after all). Same applies to the memory. Cool if you need a bunch of low density servers in a small area.

I can no longer manage such large areas, I started slowing down in my mid 30's. Even when I was superspread I could only manage 60 or 70 metre's Squared when the walls were huge to begin with. Whenever I hear people talking 80 mtrs, I simply don't beleive them.

Wise words my friend, I completely agree with everything you say. At the moment work has dipped a bit for myself and have just reduced a quote to £10 per m2 (unheard of normally) but it will still give me between 200-250 per day if I work my arse off, I mean long hours. The other guys who do bit's of work for me are all taping and jointing at the moment to keep costs down, still top finish though. Keep your chin up!

To remove a lath and plaster ceiling, remove waste resposibly, insulate, double board, Scrim and skim. £500 is seriously cheap. A spread and a labourer would be hard pressed to earn a decent days pay at that cost. There is a vast difference between what a builder charges for plastering to what they would be prepared to pay a plasterer.

£375 is about the most I've ever earnt plastering and those days are few and far between, Most I've been ever paid by a company as a tradesman is £22 per hour, although I once got £45 per hour for night work. I reckon £150 per day is the max going these days for TOP END plasterers in London. Maybe less up north, inexperienced spreads should look for £100 to £120 but the difference in not only quality but quantity between the top end and the bottom is worth vastly more than thirty quid.

Hi Bollox, I was just giving "Laithnour" a guide price. I completely agree about the different cercumstances, I am a plasterer too, not very quick, about 25m2 per day but to a high standard so I don't think £375 per day is a bad pay? Also, I always get at least 40% up front so I don't worry about canellations, I fell for that one in the 90's but not anymore.

£15 pounds is certainly reasonable, but the price always goes up for refurb. £25 is certainly not unheard of. Damproofing for instance comes in over £75. And there must a minimum charge? If a job is only a few metres surely no'one can grudge a tradesnman a days pay! And domestic work is a nightmare! How much for being cancelled the night before and all the quotes that get unanswered? Let's be reasonable, plastering is the hardest game of all, works always unsteady and a mans gotta eat.

I remamember a similar trend in uk recently, best thing to do is lay on the first coat randomly, don't flatten in properly, then lay on second coat and polish up real hard at the end, all the trowel marks from first coat shine through. Hello, peak. This stuff is wonderful. But, as a solution to sustainable building, do you have a sense how this could be scaled to the great mass of humanity, especially the "advanced" world. I guess we can wait till the suburbs crumble and replace them with this kind of construction - but we may need to wait 50 years. I personally would love to live in a house and community like that.

Lovely. Some of the simplest and still standing cob cottages were built very quickly to take possession of a piece of land --- hundreds of years ago. They sometimes still have a duckpond, where the soil, and pebbles (for the foundation)were dug from. By quickly, I mean two days. The thatch (just long, dead grass stems)came later, once ownership or whatever had been established. Dead grass stem roofing lasts much longer than petro duroid "shingles". Do these people eat their dandelions?

In many cases, environmental tax reform in and of itself would indeed be regressive. I would always wish to structure it so that the first $20,000 (+-) of income would be exempt from income tax. That way a family living a modest lifestyle and not driving a car would be rewarded by paying very little in taxes. Also, essential good such as food coudl be exempt (especially if it's organic).
