He said he figured it would pay off later. She played that same L5 on every recording she made, and nearly every public performance for the rest of her life. Divide that into the $350 that Eck paid for it; they got their money back!

Quigs, I noticed this too the first time I saw this video. Contrast the one with Hank Williams you can find elsewhere here. June was the dancing frontpiece of the act; there had to be a reason for her to be sitting down like this, and I suspect it was pregnancy. Back in the 50s pregnant women were supposed to avoid strenuous activity...perhaps that was the reason Maybelle gave her "the look".

He is going to be way easier to lift since his lack of limbs brings his weight down, he is going to be in a weight class with smaller people because of that and they can grab onto his torso without worrying about getting a hook in under their arm. I agree, almost completely. I have listened to this about 100 times now and I am definately sure that at about 1:17 at the end of the drumroll he is about half a beat too late with the cymal. But that is the only mistake I can hear over the entire piece. Its not even really a mistake, its just playing live, but when the rest is so bloody perfect, its a shame! Carter you are amazing. If you read this I fully admire your talent, you should be proud.

Just my opinion, for what it's worth. I find Carter to be the best drummer I've ever heard. He plays technically great, but more importantly he plays drums to compliment the music, and he never messes up (that I've seen, and I've seen them live many times). Carter is a living musical metronome bridging the gap between a drum machine and pure heart with genious grooves!. Jam away Carter JAM AWAY!!

Drumming at it's best is Brian Blade. Carter's sick tho. Better than anyone in rock/pop/hard rock and right up there with other top jazz drummers. If you like Carter, Blade's work will blow your mind. His time and dynamics are unmatched. Not a lot of straight solo's but you will find him on here with Joshua Redman and Patitucci and other of the top jazz artists of today's genre.
