What the very liberal Norman Lear did was this: Archie would speak truths but to "nullify" the truths , Lear would have Bunker make some racial slur and in the simple minds that are the general public, that would make the truths non-truths Its like the OJ trial. The "logic" used was OJ cant be guilty because someone else did something wrong. Typical left wing mentality

I hope people understand the point of this show, that it is against racism and hatred of people different from you. Archie's character is meant as a reflection of how ignorant some of us are and is meant to show how silly bias is.
