I would think military got it easy as a part. I can only think you'll probably be stationed to Schofield, Barbers point, or Pearl Harbor NAS. By all means those places aren't always paradise material. But local/tourist wise, I agree with computersoap1. Only if you have a lot of money it's sweet.

Well cold is relative. "Cold" in Hawaii is still a good sixty degrees warmer than what most of us in Canada or the northern US states get to live through. And besides, I always found the winter trade winds kept temperatures much more pleasant and moderate

Well, my dream is to retire there and I try and get back every 2-3 years in the interim. I'm also a city boy at heart, so I like the hustle and bustle of a good urban center. So you can say I'm a little biased, but to me Honolulu is a 9 easy

Very well done! My wife and I travel to Waikiki alot and seeing your video is like being there. The fish tunnel was not there last visit in 2007, but it was there is 2006. We always look forward to our strolls around Waikiki. Your vid. gets two thumbs up from me. Cheers to you.

I went through that fish tunnel before! It was pretty cool but too bad they had to remove it cause of something.. since they said they shouldnt put fishes there or something, cause they think so its not right since other expensive stores r around and they think so it doesnt match or something.... Qantas' 'crash' was a runway overun at Bangkok in a 747-400 (Longreach) - this did serious damage to the engines, landing gear (ripped off) and frame. No casualties, minor injuries. The aircraft was out of service for some time, repaired and in service still.

He yanks the thrust back so its in the idle position. Don't forget he isnt looking at his hand so he wants no mistake the throttle is all the way back so he can engage the reverse thrust. When landing 600,000lbs of plane there's no prizes for being gentle. Get all that weight settled on the ground then get it slowed down

Eleanor was the best tapper but I loved Ann Miller's fast tapping and spinning style too. For everything else my favorite is Cyd Charrise. She was just dazzling. Ginger was a great pair for Astaire but she wasn't better than Eleanor, still she was a better actress than Eleanor. Love watching Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Judy Garland films. People back then really could do it all, sing, dance and act.

Ellie was a dancer...first trained in ballet and acrobatics. Ginger was an actress who learned to dance. Interesting aside re: Rogers' "chemistry" with Astaire: Before they were paired on film, they had been friends in New York, had dated and even gone dancing together. Fred was newly (and very happily) married when he came to Hollywood, so there was never a romance with Ginger. The above info is from Astaire's 1950 autobio "Steps in Time".

I have to jump in on this for a sec... Hermes Pan worked with Ginger in addition to Fred, because F wasn't always available. Also, Hermes dubbed G's taps - I don't know how often, but I'm sure NO ONE ever dubbed taps for Ellie! G was terrific with F, unquestionably, but Ellie did her own choreography in addition to all the variety of athletics, not to mention her incredible presence. Is there REALLY any doubt as to who's the better dancer?

Fred Astaire was so right - she put it down like a man - not in a manly way, but with power and utter confidence in her ability; she radiates such energy and joy. In addition she choreographed her own numbers - and from her early twenties! What a prodigious talent. As I watch all these clips, I am struck by how very many athletic abilities she had - tumbling, dancing (very disparate styles!), rodeo roping, bull fighting moves - wow.

Really, Eleanor Powell was the greatest female dancer in modern entertainment history. Vera-Ellen danced with joy and completed movements. Cyd Charisse was "liquid motion." Ann Miller could tap with the best of them. Ginger Rogers could dance right along with Fred Astaire. Only Eleanor Powell could match Fred all the way. See their clips from Broadway Melody of 1940 ... the only movie they ever did together. Eleanor was simply the best ... she really was. Just my opinion. Peace.
