well what do you really expect? they arent brazilian, and there is no way they can learn a true samba in only two or three days, which is all they have to learn the dance, so they learn an EXTREMELY modified version. its entertaining and fun anyways.

I don't know man.. I think Eddie Harris is too underrated.. Which happens when people only pick up on his smooth laid back funk made popular during time spent with Les McCann and with his funk groups. In your lifetime you should find his fast stuff where you can't believe he is able to accomplish that with his hands and mouth. If he could play live for you I think you would agree.

If you are going to compare Joshua Redman to someone before him you could name many of the greats whom he was influenced by (Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Wayne Shorter). Those are the people that Redman can be compared to because you can hear all of their playing in what he does. Eddie Harris is a good player, but we are talking about the best of the best here. In that sense, Eddie Harris does NOT compare at all.

No one has mentioned the fact that blade just played a ridiculous drum solo..I mean Brad Mehldau?, SHMAD MEHLDAU. Come on, Give Blade his due compliments. Miles Davis was famous for saying a LOT OF NONSENSE. I love Miles Davis, but for him McCoy Tyner WAS NOT A PIANIST. ahahah...McCoy Tyner is one of the most influential jazz pianists in history! His left hand, his use of 4ths...that became a "requirement" for many, many jazz pianists after him. That said, Bud Powell was a master and the same can be said about Hancock: these pianists become legends either we want or not. Bud Powell, McCoy, Hancock have COINED JAZZ PIANO styles.

He is incredible. But Nigel is the only one who ran with the "untrained" story. Josh listed that he had formal training on his Fox bio, mentioned it on the show, and in interviews early in the competition. He just hasn't had steady or intensive training like some might. More off and on, summer workshops, etc. And he had training in hiphop, but Nigel turns his nose up at that. Not "real" training, you see. Nigel's an idiot. That said, both of them outdo themselves in this piece. Beautiful.

no wonder joshua won!! he deserved it 100% but i still am sad that twitch didn't win but all of the dancers on this show are amazing and i can feel the pain or happiness as they step through these dance numbers. they danced it brilliantly and they both deserved to come as far as they did and i applaud katee and joshua because they just brought so you think you can dance to a whole new level
