That's very arguable. It spread like wildfire on the underground circuit! If a hood Dj had it, he was pretty much the man. I remember most people wouldn't even try to mix it once it came in on wax. You would play the entire song within your set, cause it was so slamming. Made Jamie a household name overnight. We all thought it was some white british group, and found out it was a black kid with a studio in his crib on the southside of Chicago. HAHAHA!!!

Took a while for it to sink in. Now it, (after numerous plays) sounds like perfectly honed house-trance that drifts into pumping classic house. Is it just me or is the tempo up from the original? I've been listening to one of his mix CD's quite a lot recently. His choice of cuts sounds at first like commercial normality then by about the fourth play is downtown about 05:30 in the morning. Inspiring producer/DJ who knows few equals.

after the disco backlash there should have been some obscure radio station to the left of the dial playing this music but there wasn't. this music was good but radio was polluted with "politically connected" artists like billy joel in the early 1980s were were played at the expense of better music like this. i still like this music but got turned off by it a little bit in recent years because of today's artists who were inspired by this but who sound like scat.

I was managing a 12" exclusive record store started out of the offices of Independent Records Services (Paul Weisberg's dj pool) in Chicago. We flew to N.Y, met with Ken Cayre with only the idea of getting a repressing of Salsoul Disco Maddness selling for 50 bucks a copy because frankie playing of his edit version of Walter Gibbson's mix. they flew frankie in shepp's an afterthougt.
