Music *should* be about creating beauty, and awe, and mystery. In the "Celtic" genre, only Loreena McKennitt delivers this, on every track of every album. When I first heard "The Visit" in 1993, I couldn't believe my ears, or that Loreena could do better. "The Mystic's Dream" (heard here) from "Mask and Mirror" proved me wrong. "Mask and Mirror" is totally unique, like few other albums - only 1967's "Sergeant Pepper" comes immediately to mind.

I agree to a point. I wouldn't generalize across rap of ALL time. I would only agree with you about how rap is listened to today. In the past it was singing ABOUT the every day struggles with sexism or racism or classism, but today, the artists have no more struggles and instead rap about what to do with all their money and girls. This song is great! But I want to give here a comment: Portmore was a oak forest from Ireland which was destroyed during many years...and Highland is a region from Scotland. But the beuty of music and Scottish images does not diminish this video. I am in love with Celtic music and also by culture. I have special affection for Scotland. This video gave us the feeling of being closer to the Scottish mountains :) Thank you

It's not logical to compare Enya to Loreena...There are on 2 different paths. They may both be considered Celtic or New Age, but their stlyes are so different. That's like me comparing Paramore to Evanescence. Yes they are rock, but in the end it comes down to what style you prefer. Enya is anything but Shallow. She is completely on a different musical path. Her deliberate style IS her substance. Enya's music is ethereal and progressive. Loreena's is earthly and regressive (by that I mean use of old melodies and instruments and styles). Where Enya looks without and forward, Loreena looks within and at the past. They are completely different. But calling Enya "shallow" isn't understanding her music at all. Watermark and The Celts were some of the deepest music ever made.

Georgian tribes lived there as long if not longer than ancestors of abkhazia. I think to compare armenian church in holy land and georgian in abkhazia is irrelevant. We georgians have churches there too but we dont claim it as a georgian territory. Abkhazia is part of georgia and was populated by us since anciet times. Strangely so Shervasidze the head of abkhaz nobility was georgian too :)))) My houses are in sokhumi and gali, thats where i am returning. All the best to you too.

I know perfectly who lived near sochi. I agree with you. The word Sokhumi is turkish influeced. Real name is TSHumi! Its a kind of a tree that is grown around sokhumi. Apsuas lived there for thousand years and you are right, but u need to understand that apsuas were not alone there.,Ancent tribes of soanes and others also lived there. Luckly greeks describe it clearly for us.Abkhazia was never a monoethnic place.

if you read a bit of history, you'll see that pretty much all major christian branches, not only catholicism, have assimilated the local traditions. that is pretty normal for religions. christianity has assimilated a lot from judaism, as the pristine christianity was just a jewish sect. judaism itself took many things from older canaanite and sumerian religions and so on and so on.

This is my favorite version of this song. I've always thought that this carol was a little darker than the others. As a child I most remember the line "Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day, To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray". It used to scare me as well. But I love it.
