When I was given this CD as a gift, I was very pleased to see that, while the Maniacs had fizzled after Natalie's departure, she had taken the best of their sound with her and built upon it. This song is as classic as anything they did with her. Of course, that may be an overstatement, but I still really really like this :)

lol, i remember buying a cd [tiger lily]of natalie merchant few yrs back with my wife [she was still my gf then] she didnt like natalie the first time she heard her songs, because she is into 70's, 80's stuff but she would always say that the voice of natalie merchant was familiar to her. i told her later that natalie merchant was the lead singer for the 80's band 10,000 maniacs...my wife fell in love with her music since then.

I totally agree with you--Merchant's voice is amazing and I have every 10,000 Maniacs album, but when she went solo I saw her interview and perform on Jon Stewart's long ago talk show on MTV and she was so insufferable, and so clearly didn't want be there, it completely turned me off and I have never spent a dime on her solo releases as a result. I agree that Dead Space probably has a much better story/campaign than CoD, but you have to understand that CoD has multiplayer, so even after you've finished all of the campaign in the game, you can move on to multiplayer and that will keep you occupied for quite a while, depending on how much you like shooting games.

deadspace, hands down deadspace would be your choice. call of duty is fun but its very famous for having a short campaign/story kind of thing. deadspace is fun to play also, jus make sure you dont have heart problems our you wont even pass the first level without visiting the hospital a few times. hope that helps you out

This is actually prolly one of my favorite songs ever...I have Always loved REM and 10,000 maniacs...Used to sing Stipe (that's me in the corner) into a box fan when I was little so I got the coined reverbs for my friends and they laughed their asses off...My dad played the original John Prine song on the guitar over Thanksgiving and I tried to tell him how to sing it as this version sounds....Such a meaningful song filled with doubt and grace...We need NEW music that echoes this positivity.

I've just rediscovered Natalie Merchant the independent singer song writer and just wish she would visit England, soon. This song is moving and majestic in the way it merges Natalies soul sesarching lyrics and the atmospeheric, haunting guitar, piano and strings. The day she mixed this song, she was clearly on fire! I like the fact also that she sticks to her artistic aims, to sing true and eschew the instant need for pop culture acclaim. Her songs are gems with beauty, wisdom + a great voice.
