Some trivia: this song was recorded by only a couple of the band members accompanied by several session musicians who just happened to be around during the recording. A drum machine was used to tighten up the groove, and the main riff is played by Torstein Flakne from Stage Dolls since Kjartan Kristiansen had developed tendinitis after recording the rest of the album. The rest of the band had already returned home when this song was recorded.

Sigh... I wish I wasn't 11 years old when this was going on. The big difference between 80's-early 90's indie and late 90's to present indie, was exposure. You had to work so hard and make no money to get this point, and MTV would play this video once at like 3 a.m. Now you just upload to myspace and youtube. No cassette tapes being traded, no looking in a mom and pop record store for hours. Grass is always greener I suppose.

what's up? I'd like to say that most of the images are misrepresented due to them being outdated. I'm a direct descendant of chief Red Cloud. I have to say that things were bad but not as bad as some of the pitures make them look! I love the Rez and am making all the effort to make a change for my people! Funny, the video is very apt at bringing "Pine Ridge" (and some of the other 8 districts that make up the Pine Ridge Rez) but the focus is on the first and last words at the end of the video; Many Lakota Sioux are Christians by choice. My home is not far from the Rez, I have a grandson whose mother is Lakota, and even though poverty abounds, eqaute it with "third world country", the Lakota people are strong and warriors. They do not give up on principle. They are wonderful people.

Rachel had an accident several years back which severely damaged a leg and foot and I am sure she is much more comfortable sitting. People who are new to her may not be aware of why she usually sits when she plays. I am certainly no authority on her but she appears to not allow it to limit her as she travels all over the world--I think it may just be a "comfort" issue.

I come back again and again to hear how lovely..and I think certainly the soloist always has the option to dress with flair and expect them too..and it is a relief to not worry that the dress might drop below the "equater" during the performance. It is both appropriate and in good taste. The soloist always wears something special or at least this has been my experience in some 40 years of attending and playing in symphonies. That is part of the honor and they should get to shine.

This piece could easily have been lost to the world. Kreisler said he visited Dvorak on his sickbed. He asked if Dvorak had any composition that might be interesting for violin. Dvorak pointed to an old trunk. Kreeisler rummaged through and found 'Humoresque' and crafted the first violin transcription. The Elman arrangement is also very beautiful.

I might add, it was hearing Humeresque when I was a child that near turned me against the violin-I had an Aunt with some old '78's who played it for me and I thought it was revolting. Luckily I heard some other other things I loved a few years later that turned me ON to violin. I admit it was fun to learn to play but I could never make myself "like" it (remembering that old 78) This is tolerable

There is one more thing I have to say. You don't play your music like what I call the "robotic violinists," who have no personal touch to the music. I have a stand partner like that in my orchestra class. Her vibrato is bland and she plays everything as written, and like I said, she adds no personal touches. Thankfully, you aren't like that.

Hi Gus, This is great !!! Thanks a bunch. I currently play with Doug McDonald. He is the big guy with the sunglasses playing guitar (gold color) on the right side of the stage. Doug played with Junior, Buddy Guy, Phil Guy, Albert King, Jimmy Reed, and many more as a side man. He now fronts his own band singing and playing guitar here in Chicago. He's an amazing musician.
