cool tid bit, You made me rethink my original statement, "can't hold a candle to the greats" I guess I just don't enjoy it as much, I can get literally choked up by certain cuts of kottke's I have never had that with Fahey, and ive listened a lot. But thats what makes music so great, everyone has thier own opinions and tastes. Also, if your looking for a new artist that is a guitar virtuoso , John Butler is quickly becoming one right be fore our eyes. plays the lap steel and banjo too!!

Leo Kottke valued and was inspired by John Fahey. The feeling was mutual. Fahey described his style as 'Primitive American'. Kottke was technically better, but as the proverb says, 'If we saw a long way, it was because we were standing on the shoulders of giants.' I love both artists' work. your right about that, but what about black mountain side and nobodys fault but mine, they took a bunch of stuff but maybe they gave credit at that time,(i wasnt around yet), though many people dont know. ask the average guy who sings nobodys fault and 9 out 10 will say zep. But they are one of the best bands ever so im not surprised.
