nope, the thickest string, the one closest to your face when you play, is the sixth string. don't ask why these rules were made up this way, because i don't have a clue, and the guy who came up with it is probably long dead.

Ehh, does anyone know a site or advice on playing the major scale on different scales, eg: Major scale rooted on the g string etc, without the pitch changing, I had it for one of my guitar tests & it's bugging me. I understand intervals etc, but it's just that really, I want to expand my theory then I can concentrate on my playing side more & be a better musician, so if anyone can help? Thanks.
