What do you think of the VisTablet? I bought one, and can't figure out how to use it. They don't answer the phone or return calls on their help line, and their how to instructions are useless. I can't figure out how to get the darn thing to show up on the computer when I draw. Any help on set up would be great.

There should be 2 small buttons on the side of the Stylus, one for drawing, and one for erasing. You put the pen into position where you want to draw, then use the draw button, and it starts....It's like if your drawing with a mouse, it don't draw until you hold down left click.

even if you had one of those, wouldn't it be hard to draw on it because you are drawing on the tablet, and it's showing up on the screen so you'd have to look down at the tablet and up at the screen back and fourth to see if you got the drawing right.. hmm.. i could be wrong , but i'm not quite sure because i don't have one.. but i want one =/

I have a brand new Think Pad x61 with Windows XP SP2, and I tell you, it is SLOW. I also have a 2-yr old Mac Book Pro, and there is no comparison. I like the Think Pad for staying cool, and being so light to carry around, but the quality and speed of the Mac Book Pro kicks ass.

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I look at what a ThinkPad has compared to other brands, it just seems too unreasonable. But ThinkPads are widely renowned to have superior built quality compared to other brands. And you know it when you use one. The keyboard built is one of the best. You could trade in a few things here and there for better specs, but you do compromise quality.

the 2500z is to me the perfect tablet, however there are a number of threads on insanelymac about installing OSx. It has some installation difficulties due to its AMD processor, but once over that it seems the particular nvidia graphics is not supported. However the touchscreen should be ok with the pen if the wacom drivers are installed, but the soft (finger) touch screen is autodetected by osx and the calibration is miles off with no way to re-calibrate.

Seems like it runs OSX even better than the MSI wind, eee pc or inspiron mini! A few qns tho: 1. When you close the lid, does OSX go to sleep? Does it throw a fit if you wake it up? This was a persistent problem in Inspiron mini and eee pc i believe. 2. Does VGA out work? Is it only to external display or does mirror mode work as well? 3. While OSX on an 8.9" screen is a match made in heaven, do you find the resolution too large for the small screen? This is exciting news. Thanks!

yes QE is supported. spaces and dashboard work fine. Only thing to know before trying it yourself is that the touchscreen will not work natively. It needs the driver compiled for Mac.

This guy has managed to hack a version of OSX86 and get it to run on this awesome little computer, and that's not as bloody simple as installing boot camp! Worst computer in the world. The screen is terrible on the eyes, it looks like someone put a dotted sticker foil over the screen... it always looks smudged. It's slow, takes ages to boot up and is REALLY noisy and runs REALLY hot. I can't believe I made it through my first year of uni with that machine! Ugh.

Yeah, it might seem odd, but in reality this is STILL the worlds smallest and lightest Apple Mac with a FULLY FUNCTIONAL OSX system - the iPhone can't do much that a full system can, and the Macbook Air is much larger than this and DOESN'T have a table touch screen! :-)

No because it is based on PPi (pixels per inch) resolution. You could have a 50" screen and it wouldn't change. It depends on your computers output resolution (or currently open document resolution/zoom). But the bamboo isn't designed for extremely large resolutions, it's for the commercial market to enable medium size sketches, illustrations, photo touch up and a navigation function that cause less strain. Get an a4 or bigger for big illustrations.

Great vid, Chris :) Just wanted to drop in my two cents... Using the mouse used to really hurt my wrist, and I've found that tablets are great for preventing CTS. Also, tablets are great because of their pressure-sensitive capabilities that you can also adjust depending on your usage. (e.g. Chris, since you handle the pen with alot of pressure, you can set it to a less sensitive setting). The feature is best shown with other software like Photoshop or Alias Sketchbook though :)

The video is somewhat of a joke as the n810 isnt meant for idiots who cant install additional software. The only thing i will give him is that there is no easy way to red word documents, but you san still do it - google docs for instance. mail application and GPS as he points out are available in other more advanced (and free) versions. The only thing my n800 cant do that my laptop can (which i have a use for) is photoshop, other than that i definately dont bring my laptop around

I'm a graphic artist and one huge thing he failed to mention is your computer needs to be up to par... drawing with a tablet is sheer hell on earth for an artist if your computer is stuttering at all. I'd reccomend doubling up on memory because youll most likley be using Photoshop which is a memory hog especially when working with larger files. Anyway... yeah. Give me that tablet you bitch.
