The Germans didn't think it trough when they made the tiger series. Although it's heavy armour and powerful main gun made it an dangerous foe. It's heavy weight was it's major drawback. It consumed huge amounts of fuel 500L/100km (something Germany was always in short supply off). The drivetrain wasn't well suited for the engine this caused many breakdowns. And it was slow. So this tank wasn't very effective in an offensive role. And tanks weren't meant to be used as a deffensive weapon

What a bunch of whingers and cynics! How wonderful for kids to be able to see Thomas at Thomas Land or the railways - whichever their families choose. Thomas is a character that lives at neither of these places. Thomas lives in a child's imagination. To get shirty at HIT/Thomas Land over concern over revenue for the individual railways shows your hearts aren't in the right place. Thomas isn't there so serve the railway. Turn your tv off and get out amongst it!

Panther Tank first drive.

This is the first post rebuild drive a Panther Tank. This tank was assembled in February of 1944. This tank fell through the ice and into a small river in Poland in January of 1945. It spent the next 45 years submerged. This rebuild started almost 6 years ago and is nearly complete. (some footage provided by Greg Taylor of Taylor Restorations and Pahrahdise Ranch.
