the lenovo is ugly! and the airs goal is to be wireless, so you dont need all of thos wires... and the air is faster, smaller, and lighter than the lenovo- and cheaper the air is also a mac - so its os is better the x300 is a lenovo.. every lenovo i have ever seen was poorly built and the designers didnt think about the overall computer too much..

I haven't really owned a ThinkPad, but I have worked on ThinkPad's, many IBM, and some Lenovo. The ones I received were absolutely damaged out of their shell, but what is great to know is ThinkPads keep your data safe, almost regardless!

I have an A21p since 2001 and it is still running strong as of now. (never had an service issue) My mom have been using a X31 since 2004 and it is still running strong. (never had an service issue,either) And this T43 I had since Aug 2005 died just one day after warranty expired. I also got a T61 Aug.2007. Its screen backlight burned out within first week of purchase. I just want to say, I hate you Lenovo. Everything just get worse and worse since you take over.

True store just happened to me is that my T43 is basicly dead as of yesterday(August 2nd 2008), just one day after the warranty expired. Now the machine can turn on and works but as soon as I move the machine a bit(move, lift...) it freezes. Shit.

They might look almost identical on the picture but T series have this metal cage inside and the lid is made of some kind of metal. Absent in R60 made it look quite cheap. My father was always using T models but got me an R60 because is suits students wallet better. I was so dissapointed that it doesn't nearly look so good as his t42 and later t60

I had the same impression, my father was always using T series. But as soon as I opened the box I was dissapointed, the plastic looked nothing like my fathers laptop. Thats mainly because of the titanium alloy cover (or something) which is absent in R series. Also T is suppose to have some kind of inner metal cage so it is much more durable. Although as far as working on it goes, you will not feel a difference as display, keyboard and wrist-rest part is made of the same materials.

Where did this video come from? So true true that they should write it on the screen. It seems that his thinkpad starts like 1000% faster after being melted. Mine was never in fire and it takes it at least a minute to start (even with most of preinstalled crap removed)

I have a brand new Think Pad x61 with Windows XP SP2, and I tell you, it is SLOW. I also have a 2-yr old Mac Book Pro, and there is no comparison. I like the Think Pad for staying cool, and being so light to carry around, but the quality and speed of the Mac Book Pro kicks ass.

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I look at what a ThinkPad has compared to other brands, it just seems too unreasonable. But ThinkPads are widely renowned to have superior built quality compared to other brands. And you know it when you use one. The keyboard built is one of the best. You could trade in a few things here and there for better specs, but you do compromise quality.

I believe you can order it with XP, even if you can't, you can uninstall Vista a put a fresh copy of XP on there. The beauty of ThinkPad's is that all your vital recovery data is hardwired into the computer itself via ThinkVantage. It's just one of the many reasons I love my ThinkPad!

hp is great for students needs and their tablet is awesome and so is lenovo. i definitely recomend the lenovo for outdoor activities though because the hp has a terrible screen with tons of glare if you do wish to get an hp though because lenovo can get pricy i reccomond the 2730p elitebook still about 1600 but not as expensive

I got mine, and love it. I ordered mine with 1 dimm of 1 gig of ram and bought another stick of 2 gig ram off of newegg for around 100 bucks, opposed to ordering the system with the 3 gigs from factory; it saved me around 300 bucks. It runs vista ultimate great with the 3 gigs. Great battery life too.

Wrong, it is very possible with a small amount of scripting. A demo is given with tux racer on the lenovo site. It is not a standard feature, but with the ability to write a program to utilise the 2D accelerometer used for HDD protection, it is very possible.

I don't know why they're making such gigantic notebooks now. From their website it looks like IBM doesn't make non-widescreen T Series notebooks anymore. Widescreens are nice on desktops but I don't like their big footprint on a laptop.

ThinkPads are very solidly built. You would have to work very hard to destroy them. I have a ThinkPad T30 with 1.6 Ghz CPU and 1GB RAM. A lot faster and more powerful than my old A22m. And before the recommendations arise that I need a more powerful laptop, I don't. My T30 does everything I want (except my homework, that's what it can't do.:(), and I plan on getting an X300 but not until I can get it on Ebay for less than 500 bucks. Long time to wait, I know.

You may see this as a weakness but it can be seen as a strong point. It is the whole "I don't want to change everything all the time"-thing. Nobody mentions the fact that the SSD in the x300 has only a limited amount of read and writes it can do until it simple dies on you. Any, and I mean ANY, normal HDD lasts about 5 times longer. Time will tell. People will find out the hard way in a few years.

lenovo doesn't really go for the gaming laptops. I got one during a massive thanksgiving sale, so I didn't really get to check much of the specs (regretting it now). Its only a 1.7 ghz processor, with vista, and is considerably slow, plus can't play most games.

Love the designs of the Thinkpads and their sturdiness/solidity. Every component seems to be placed on the right spot and they coexist very harmoniously in an abundant air flowing space. I hate the plastic feel, the flimsiness, the weight, and the glossy look of the average mainstream laptop. I am so happy with my T42 atm, the next laptop I'll get will probably be the x300 which will probably stay with me for a few years.

i like x300 however my ideal laptop would be 15.4 inch, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz) 4GB DDR2 System Memory 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 802.11b/g WLAN and Bluetooth 160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive + optical drive and not thicker than think pad x300. Can Lenovo do that???? hope they can, and let it be a think pad spill resistant + a track point, and let it be a tablet with wacom touch screen!!!!!! that is my ideal computer and is not here yet...:(

the air is way better.people need to stop complaining about the lack of ports.everything is done with wireless! why have a bunch of unwieldy ports? if you REALLY need more usb,get a splitter,but who really needs them anyways? you are getting a light notebook for the go,not something to park on a desk all day to dock to tons of usb's. the air runs smoother, and its by far sturdier.. people who bash the macbook air are forgetting that a. its a small lappie for on the go and its now only 1.2k

Yawn. There is no debate. If you have to interface with the majority of the computing world regularly, want your cell phone to work with your computer, or play specific games online you're going to want to spend less and get a PC. However, if your programs are processor intensive, if you're into photography, music, web design, have an iPhone or just generally prefer a less intense interface (technically speaking) you'll want the Mac. And let us not forget the sexy factor... PCs are HIDEOUS.
