thanks for sharing this video. Memories from my youth are coming back to me. I bought the album from a classmate who for unknown reasons wanted to get rid of it. That must have been in 1970 or so. But in the CD/MP3 era I haven't listened to vinyl albums for years. A newspaper report about the rock opera Tommy in Dutch triggered me to look on Youtube for original footage. Thanks again

JH was undoubtedly talented and original compared with his contemporaries within his own genre, and he had a few new tricks and licks to boot, leaving a legacy of god-like status among many would-be imitators - you can still hear him in half the solos that rock guitarist play today. But he was what I would call a guitarist's guitarist; and not a musician's guitarist....

Nothing to do with the internal mic, really. If I'm hearing the same thing you are, it's done acoustically with the strumming hand. At the end of the strum stroke the strings are stopped with the heel of the right hand.

I don't know who was voted best guitarist by which magazine. but THIS is the BEST guitar playing that I have ever heard. Does it really matter if is Laurence Juber or Tommy Emmanuel? Perhaps they are equally as good, but more importantly, THIS is INCREDIBLE. Way to go, Tommy. I'll listen to some of Juber's songs, and then I'll see if one is better or not. No matter, EMMANUEL is DEFINITELY one of the two best in the world.
