I've listened to this song many times - cried the first time I heard it. It was so beautiful but to this day I don't get what the message behind the song was. I understand Van Gogh suffered but what message is Don McLean talking about?

I had the intense, religious experience of seeing the Van Gogh exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC last week. My favorite artist, ever & always. Standing in awe before his "Starry Night," I was one of several people moved to tears. I could have remained there all night. Your video is beautiful & touching. I've loved this perfect song for 36 yrs. & thank you for editing Vincent's masterful work to it. "Lust for Life" was a great film, but I prefer "Vincent and Theo." Peace
