This is 76mm or so... hmm... ok.. good old RPG-7 has 105mm (warhead). This is just a tech demonstrator, may be useful in the future but not now. I dont think that anyone would change existing shoulder launched weapons for this. The idea was probably to fire from closed positions avoiding the backblast, but that has been "fixed" in other ways.

its not necessarily a mortar round, it could very well be an anti tank round or simple grenade...but as Rastak points out..grenade/rocket launchers do the same, even though this is A LOT bigger caliber.

there is always an ethical issue when making these devices...but mainly we care most about the new technology we develop...not everybody is capable of working in this business...bcos of the fact that what u are making will kill a lot of ppl...I dont know if I could...nowadays weapons arent soulely made with the intention to kill, but also to see if its possible to build..and thats what most scientist would want to know ...

hey - I'm of the same opinion as you - plus my educational background would be very useful to this industry, but I'm applying it to biology/medical fields instead of this. But at the same time - I still like seeing something go boom from time to time, even if it's meant for killing humans. The only point I was trying to make was - if they're going to show a gun, at least show what it's completely capable of.
