i have tried using 1 pint jars... it works, but they can take a LOT longer to fully colonize. A short drinking glass covered w/ foil can work well if you cant find 1/2 pint jars.

Just order them online. Hopefully you don't live in CA, ID, or GA. If I'm not mistaken, these are the only states that Psilocybe Cubensis spores are not legal. Otherwise, you'll have to have an out-of-state hookup mail them to you.

Vermiculite is a strong water and nutrient absorber. You can get it at any plant shop or walmart or any place like that. I actually picked up a bag today of 10 dry quarts for $9.99 in preparation of my first grow attempt. Looks like it will be enough for at least 3 or 4 grows.

there is no tyvek on brown rice flour jars. They just use a dry vermiculite layer about a 1/2 in. thick on top of the brf. the dry verm will stop contams from entering.

Is it necessary to drill holes on the bottom? I`m thinking of drilling holes just above the perlite level, this way I won`t have my floor wet from dripping water, consequently higher humidity will be maintained due to less water loss, air circulation will be just the same. 1st time growing, 7 out of 8 jars colonized after 8 weeks (1 not doing anything).
