I loved REM. Everything up to Green. (Pretty Persuasion and Fall On Me, in particular.) The Beatles are incomparable though. They pretty much wrote the book on everything everyone has done afterwards. REM are a better live band than the Beatles were, IMHO, but John, Paul, George, and Ringo's studio albums are, to this day, unmatched.
