"started as a joke" The way things are going the joke may very well be on the un-prepared public... Thanks again.

Thank you for the great comment. P.A.W ( post apoc world) started as a joke and here we are 1 yr later! Bob
By: mobiltec. on 01 Dec 08, 19:00:40
What does P.A.W. stand for? Thanks for these videos. I believe that it is important to be ready for just about anything. Whether it be a natural disaster or a man made one. This is great info for people like me and I'm glad there are people like you out there that are unselfish and willing to help people like me prepare.

Check out the "results" videos on this channel. The rice that was NOT put up correctly lasted near 20 years.... :)
By: snowlife23. on 25 Nov 08, 20:23:12
Great info, would storing white rice w/ the bag&bucket w/absorbers- make the rice last for 20-30 yrs?
By: delta69alpha. on 25 Nov 08, 11:31:12
good start, and glad you have started trying/experimenting with LTS. Bob

Alright, great job! Glad to hear it! SR
By: jingling30. on 23 Nov 08, 23:50:34
I did. As you can see from my post 4 days ago I said I made pizza. It explains my enlightenment.
By: SurvivalReport. on 22 Nov 08, 13:48:42
Jingling- so you eat NO pastas, bread products now? Not sure how you figure grinding wheat is "impractical" primitive peoples have been doing it between two flat STONES for seven thousand years! You don't NEED a grinder you can do a lot with wheat w/o a grinder. You eat cereal? Want some meat substitutes in your storage but can't afford meat for LTS? It's probably time for some research and experimentation, you'll see how versatile wheat really is! Good Luck.

I got 50 pounds of it from WholeFoods for $50.00. Is that a decent price? They give you a discount when you get it in large bulk. Its normally like $1.19 / lb. If I ordered online (which I was going to) the shipping would have costed quite a bit.
By: jingling30. on 19 Nov 08, 20:35:09
yeah... I figured it out. I did some homework. I grinded 3 cups of flour with a coffee grinder the other day and sifted it and made pizza dough. It was actually pretty good. I actually didn't think making flour was that easy. I thought it was more technical. I went and bought 50 pounds of and and stored it as you prescribed. thank you.
By: delta69alpha. on 16 Nov 08, 20:52:00
Grind it make flour, bake bread, make flat bread make tortillas, thicken stews, soup and about 1001 other things!
By: jingling30. on 15 Nov 08, 03:05:13
I see absolutely no point in storing wheat. The most you can do with it is maybe sprout it. Making flour in a scenarious that would dictate such storage needs is totally impractical.

Hi. I am really new to this and have just a few questions. Where do you get the mylar and the food preserver packets? Also where is a good site to see how to put your grain into use in a crisis. I have a lot of Rice. Like I said I am very new to this and am trying to gather information. With the economy like it is, I want to be ready =) Thank you
By: delta69alpha. on 23 Oct 08, 10:41:54
You really dont , the benefit is from after you open the bucket. The seal helps if you haven't re-sealed the mylar.
By: RedDelPaPa. on 23 Oct 08, 02:50:19
I have a question about your bucket long term food storage videos. If I plan to follow your method of using mylar bags with O2 absorbers and heat sealed, do I need bucket lids that have a rubber gasket? If the mylar bags are properly sealed, I wouldn't think gasketed lids would be needed?

shopsimplerlivingDOTcom has absorbers and mylar liners. Very good source, reputable and quick shipping!
By: LibertyJunkie. on 18 Oct 08, 17:23:20
Do you know of a place to buy them at a decent price? I have seen some places online but I don't know if they are reputable. One place charged extra if you used credit card, they perfered checks and another said not to expect anything for at least 3 months.
By: ojmoss. on 18 Oct 08, 14:57:33
I'm also in Canada and can't find anything of this sort. It is pretty ridiculous to be honest. Buckets, mylar packs, oxygen absorbers, when I ask stores about this they look at me like I'm crazy.
By: SurvivalReport. on 18 Oct 08, 13:11:59
Yes. Just keep in mind that stuff you dehydrate at home- veggies, fruits, will not be dry ENOUGH for long term storage.
By: LibertyJunkie. on 17 Oct 08, 00:32:20
Can you store other things in the buckets? Like dehydrated carrots, potatoes, and other vegi's?
By: Darlowe. on 16 Oct 08, 22:10:50
I am in Canada, Anyone have any clue where to get those up here?
By: IRSFRAUDEXPOSED. on 12 Oct 08, 17:43:34
im sorry i was replying to the question about oxygen absorbers being food grade .
By: SurvivalReport. on 12 Oct 08, 13:40:40
That's largely a matter of opinion. IN GENERAL buckets that have the HDPE 2 symbol on them are used for packing food. THAT is what the big manufacturers use- check any buckets you already have. All the icing, pickle, etc. buckets out there are HDPE 2. "Food grade" doesn't mean "sterile"- folks confuse the terms greatly.
