Awsome job, I was looking at all the ideas and soon have to convert a rea into a living area. major work, not a lot of money. Love the appliances all covered. PS CAT is GREAT! and very true, they are watching to see everything..lol
By: AsktheBuilder. on 13 Nov 08, 22:31:26
The counter was cleaned. When you have cats in a house they are always up on counters. Especially when you're out of the room or sleeping. We always clean the counters before use because of this. My wife loves cats. So if I don't like it, I can move out. :->

I had a lot of respect for you until I saw the cat's bottom on the counter. Bad!!!

Nice kitchen! I love the accents. I've just finished doing my kitchen - its beautiful but it was a big job!
By: Yournewkitchen. on 29 Jul 08, 00:22:03
Tim, Great kitchen design. It looks as though you took your time and planned the remodel very well. It is amazing how much goes into the complete remodeling of a kitchen and how hectic things are around the house during that time but you can sure see from your video it was well worth it. 3 months is a long time to eat out but its worth it for the years of enjoyment that space will give you. Great job!

I have a short (less than 5 feet) load bearing that I want to remove between my living room and kitchen. Do you have a video on how to do this? or have any advice? Thanks. I am a do-it-yourselfer, but would not mind paying someone to keep our roof from colapsing.

They are cherry. Visit a Woodmode dealer and you will see the sample. The wood looks different colors under different light sources, so be careful when making your decision.
By: mbcelestino. on 02 Feb 08, 02:03:29
Mr. Carter, those are beatiful cabinets! Are they cherry wood? What is the name of the stain color? Great job, love the website!

We are in the process of redoing our kitchen now. We like Lowe's but they didn't have the cabinet style we wanted. We are now going with a frame-less style called Premier (only in Home Depot). It's made by Kraftmaid though. The price for about 25 cabinets was around $9k (nearly half the price of other brands). The next biggest thing is who we are working with at HD. You need to find someone who really is knowledgeable & will work well with you.

You have to be careful no matter who you hire. I have all sorts of tips at my website about hiring contractors.

looks like a great job well done
By: prrolg. on 17 Oct 07, 00:18:30
I like alot of wood in a library but I like to see the appliances in a kitchen. More user friendly. More outdoor light too.
By: pollstarjunkie. on 11 Sep 07, 22:44:39
i am kinf of skeptical about any contractors. im a single girl, and dont trust any of these people. Home Depot is quite popular.. but they even lied to me.. right in my face about prices.. and that was the SECOND time i saw them about the door. i guess they couldnt think of the lie, on the first visit
By: AsktheBuilder. on 11 Sep 07, 21:28:59
I didn't use Lowe's.........
By: pollstarjunkie. on 11 Sep 07, 18:42:13
wow, my kitchen is a little like that, with the wall seperating it from the breakfast room. i have wanted to remodel this kitchen for a long time, but i just dont think i have the money. what about Lowe's home improvement...any good?

Yes that guy does look like one tuff SOB lol BOB
By: AsktheBuilder. on 09 Aug 07, 15:28:52
I wish! The retail price on just the cabinetry - with NO labor - was $70,000. The appliances alone were $18K. That job was well into the six figures.... Gulp! But my wife *really* deserved it. She has wanted a kitchen like this for 35 years. It was the least I could do for all she puts up with from me.
By: rthereanyleft. on 09 Aug 07, 13:28:01
wow Tim, that's a beaut!...can we ask what that baby set u back...my guess $40,000 ish??

Our lead carpenter was fantastic, but the tile floor almost did him in. Tearing out that tile was a horrible job. Hours and days of beating on the floor. He loved kicking drywall. I think he does cage fighting as a hobby.
